Water

01

For some of my current portfolio pieces in visual arts, I use the picture of the water waves and the girl with red flowers and horns. The water photo was made with gouache, and it is one of my favorite water pieces that I’ve created. It took a lot of time layering the different colors, putting the dark spots first, and layering the water with blues and greens and finally putting the white details to create the disruptive waves. To make it more interesting, I would leave lumps of paint on some of the big waves to give the painting more dimension.

For the girl, I wanted to experiment with drawing different flowers, and this concept of flowers adorning her horns was something I’ve always wanted to draw. I wanted her face to be one of the main focuses, so I covered her eyes with red flowers and made sure the other flowers I used would not clash or also stand out compared to the ones on her face. This picture led to a series of these drawings with similar concepts but different themes.
